Description
CertiDigital is a university-led shared credential service, built by 23 Spanish universities and deployed as a national platform on RedIRIS, the Spanish academic and research network.
The initiative delivers a reusable technical infrastructure that any university in the Spanish university system can use to issue digital certificates based on the European Learning Model, with two interoperability tracks: Europass EDC/EDCI for centralised scenarios and EBSI for decentralised scenarios.
Access control reuses existing federated login, building on RedIRIS SIR and its connection to eduGAIN.
This talk focuses on leadership decisions and operating model choices that make digital credentials real at scale: scope selection, governance, data discipline, integration with existing university systems via APIs, support and change management, and sustainability as a shared service.
What will the TNC audience take away from your talk?
They will learn the "university-led, NREN-operated" model behind CertiDigital, including how RedIRIS lowers cost and risk through shared operations and how federated access reuses SIR and eduGAIN instead of creating a new identity silo.
They will leave with a practical adoption checklist covering governance, scope choices (what to credential first), data model discipline, integration with existing university systems via APIs, and the minimum support and change work needed to go from pilot to sustainable production.
