Description

Continuing from the well-attended EDI BoF in Brighton last year which saw broad support from the community, we aim to continue the conversation on the actions currently being undertaken by NRENs and the wider research and education community. The session will also explore how, as a community, we can more effectively share experiences and best practices around equality, diversity, and inclusion.

The session will begin with a set of short, focused talks highlighting concrete EDI initiatives currently underway within various NRENs and partner organisations. These will include examples of the implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) and broader EDI strategies. Speakers will share practical lessons from their implementation efforts, including common bottlenecks, organisational and cultural challenges, and approaches that have proven effective in addressing them. Particular attention will be given to how organisations are moving beyond formal legislative compliance towards initiatives that deliver lasting impact.

A key driver for the session will be the identification of concrete outcomes to help move this work forward. These could include shared resources, regular forums or working groups, and collaborative tools that can support sustained knowledge exchange across the NREN ecosystem.

What will the TNC audience take away from your talk?

Participants will gain insight into EDI and GEP implementation across the R&E community and agree on ways to sustain the exchange of experiences and best practices beyond the annual TNC sessions.
