Description

The international R&E community includes many people whose lives are deeply affected by global crises. This Community Hub session explores the experience of living and working abroad while war continues at home. Through reflections from Ukrainian colleagues working for NRENs in Europe, we will share what it means to remain professionally active while family members, friends, and communities face daily danger. This session will connect these personal perspectives with the work of the Humanitarian Support Group for NRENs, highlighting how the R&E community can respond not only technically, but also humanly.

What will the TNC audience take away from your talk?

Participants will:
• Gain insight into the human impact of war and humanitarian crises on members of the NREN community.
• Learn about the Humanitarian Support Group for NRENs and how the research and education networking community can mobilise support during crises.
• Reflect on how NRENs can provide solidarity, understanding, and practical support to colleagues affected by war and displacement.
• Contribute to an open conversation about how international collaboration can remain compassionate and supportive when community members are experiencing profound personal challenges.
