Description

National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) worldwide face a common set of public affairs challenges in an evolving digital infrastructure landscape. Operating across diverse political and cultural contexts, they must engage policymakers, demonstrate the strategic value of connectivity, and position their infrastructures within national and international priorities. While approaches differ, many of the underlying questions and pressures are shared - creating a strong basis for exchange, comparison, and mutual learning.
This highly interactive Community Hub provides a dedicated space for public affairs professionals, strategists, and stakeholders from across the global NREN community to connect, exchange experiences, and co-create insights. It is designed to go beyond informal networking by enabling structured, peer-driven learning across regions.
The session will centre on Rapid Fire Discussions - short, facilitated rounds where participants actively contribute perspectives, challenges, and proven approaches. This format ensures broad participation and quickly surfaces diverse viewpoints from Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
Key guiding questions include:
- What advocacy approaches are most effective in different political environments?
- Which narratives resonate with policymakers across regions?
- Where are the opportunities to better align messaging and strengthen global positioning?

What will the TNC audience take away from your talk?

Participants will:
• Build new international connections with peers working on similar challenges
• Gain practical insights into public affairs and advocacy approaches across regions
• Identify shared challenges and opportunities for stronger alignment
• Contribute to a broader understanding of how to position NRENs within the global digital infrastructure landscape
The session also lays the groundwork for continued exchange beyond the conference, strengthening collaboration within and beyond the GÉANT SIG-PA community.
