Description

Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform agriculture and strengthen climate resilience, particularly in regions where smallholder farmers face increasing environmental uncertainty. As a woman lecturer and researcher in computer science in West Africa, I believe that education and innovation must work together to address real-world challenges. This conviction led to this project of Cacao_IA, a platform that converts meteorological, historical, and agricultural data into personalized recommendations — when to fertilize, when to harvest, how to prevent diseases, and how to optimize yields based on the microclimate of each plot. Cacao_IA does not simply forecast the weather — it transforms climate data into decisions. It is the difference between having information and having the power to act. This lightning talk will demonstrate how academic expertise can evolve into practical AI solutions with tangible societal impact.
